Diljit Dosanjh On Opting Out Of Yami Gautam Starrer: ‘I Was Not Convinced With The Script’- EXCLUSIVE
Diljit Dosanjh made his Bollywood debut with Udta Punjab, paired opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan. He is all set to make a splash with Bebo, once more, in Karan Johar’s Good Newwz. However, between Udta Punjab and Good Newwz, the famous Punjabi sinher-turned-actor, had a spate of unsuccessful films too. His one of the last films- Arjun Patiala tanked at the box-office and it was said that its failure had an impact on Diljit’s choice for his next few films.

Amidst all this, a few months back, we reported that Diljit’s film with Ramesh Taurani, also starring Yami Gautam and being directed by Haroon, Aziz Mirza’s son, has got shelved as the actor has suddenly opted out of it. At that time, we had got to know that Diljit wanted to re-strategise his moves after Arjun Patiala and hence he quit the film, leaving Taurani to start the hunt for another male lead.

So, when SpotboyE.om met Diljit recently to talk about his film, Good Newwz, we also brought out the topic of Taurani’s film and asked him what went wrong. Dosanjh dismissed the rumours about leaving the film because he wanted to re-strategise and said that he was not convinced with the script of the film.

“There was nothing like reconsidering my decision because my earlier films didn’t work. I wasn’t brooding or getting depressed about it. I don’t know talks of me leaving the film because of these reasons started going around,” Diljit clarified.

The actor then shared his reason for leaving the film, “I didn’t like the script as much. Also, they didn’t have a script to start with. The copy of a proper script came to me very late, almost near the days we were supposed to begin the shoot.”

Diljit then added that it wasn’t easy for him to rush through the pages on the end days and get into the skin of the character. “I still gave it a shot and read the script but was not convinced enough. That’s why I informed the producers about my decision and told them I would rather not do it than give it my half-heart effort. They also understood my point and we parted on amicable note,” reasoned out Dosanjh.

Well, at the moment Diljit is excited about Good Newwz which hits theatres this Friday, but ended the topic saying he is “open to working with Taurani in the near future.”
